What is a Credit Bureau?

By Carrie Davis - Posted on 22 December 2008

There are two national credit bureaus (sometimes called credit reporting agencies) in Canada: Equifax and TransUnion. These bureaus function as huge repositories of data. They collect and store your personal and account information as reported to them by the financial institutions. You are legally entitled to your report from each of the bureaus, though there is a fee to obtain your report via the internet.
