Depending on how you look at them, credit cards can be very scary — or liberating — things. On the one hand, you finally have a tool that will allow you to purchase concert tickets online, reserve a hotel room, and build a credit history. On the other hand, when you're a starving student with little income coming in, having any amount of high interest credit at your disposal can be dangerous. That's why it's important to have a plan when applying for your first credit card — and stick to it.
